OMAR APOLLO BRAKELIGHTS

Omar Apollo combines his irresistibly downtempo style with down-to-earth content in 'Brakelights', a smooth, soulful, jazzy ode to his car. It all began with the hook, "Days by, baby I don't got no brakelights," and with encouragement from his friends, the 20-year-old Indiana artist decided to complete the track with a lustful guitar flair and grooving bass, but with a new addition of Isaac Burns' cinematic trumpet. The song is a steady collage of lo-fi recordings and Apollo's naturally flowing, self-examining vocals. 'Brakelights' inspires a warm, comforting feeling, like seeing the glistening sea of red tail-lights on your way home from a long day, and you very well might be listening to Apollo's soothing vocals, fiery and face-scrunching guitars, and those tapering horns. - HT
